Quinta das Lágrimas is an 18th-century palace in Santa Clara, Coimbra, surrounded by 12 hectares of historic gardens. It was here, in the 14th century, that the forbidden love of Pedro and Inês de Castro unfolded, and the fountain born from Inês's tears still flows in the garden. For centuries a private sanctuary of a family, it is now a charming 5-star hotel, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Breakfast is served at the Pedro & Inês Restaurant, a cozy and informal space with a view of the garden, where the ancient recipes of the Quinta are present. It is a continental and American buffet, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
