Porto hotel with breakfast: stay, or just have breakfast?
Searching for a Porto hotel with breakfast included? There are two ways to get it, and one of them does not need a room. What each costs and when each makes sense.
People searching for "Porto hotel with breakfast" almost always want one of two things: to book a room where breakfast is included, or to have breakfast at a beautiful hotel without sleeping there. They are different decisions, with different sums.
This article separates the two. We do not sell rooms: Morning Club only books breakfast. But if you are choosing where to stay, it is worth knowing the second option exists, because it changes the maths of the first.
The two ways to have breakfast at a Porto hotel
Stay overnight. You book the room on an accommodation platform and choose the rate with breakfast included. You pay once, sleep there, come down in the morning. Breakfast feels free because it is already in the room price.
Just have breakfast. You book only the table, for the morning you choose, without a room. You pay per person, turn up at the booked time and the team welcomes you like any other customer. That is what Morning Club does, today at 14 hotels in Porto and Gaia.
The second option does not replace the first: if you need to sleep in Porto, you need a room. What it solves are the other cases, and there are more of them than it seems.
What each one costs
The price of breakfast without a room is in plain sight, hotel by hotel.

Room prices change every day, with the season and with demand, so we do not publish them here. What can be said safely is the order of magnitude: a night at a Porto 5-star costs several times the price of breakfast at the same house.
Two practical sums.
- The rate with breakfast included usually costs more than the rate without. If the difference is bigger than the price in the table above, it is cheaper to book the room without breakfast and the table separately.
- If you are staying at another hotel, or with someone, hotel breakfast stops being an extra on your stay and becomes an outing in itself. Same room, same buffet, paid separately.
When staying overnight is the better bet
- You are sleeping in Porto anyway and want the morning sorted without leaving the hotel.
- The rate with breakfast included costs barely more than the plain rate.
- You are staying several days and want the same breakfast every morning.
- You are travelling with children and the logistics of going out in the morning weigh more than the price.
When booking breakfast only is the better bet
- You live in Porto or Gaia. You are not going to sleep ten minutes from home; you want the room, not the bed.
- You are staying at another hotel and want to try the breakfast room of a hotel that is not yours.
- You are passing through, with an early flight or train, and want to start well without paying for a night.
- It is an occasion: a birthday, a special day, a work meeting away from the office, a gift.
- You want to test the hotel before staying there. It is the cheapest way to see the house from the inside.
On that last one: booking breakfast is a good way to decide where to stay next time. You see the room, the service and the produce for a fraction of the price of a night.
Where it works today

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to book a room to have breakfast at a hotel in Porto?
No. At 14 hotels in Porto and Gaia you book breakfast only, the way you book a restaurant. The room is a separate decision.
Is it cheaper to book the room with breakfast included?
It depends on the gap between the hotel's two rates. If the rate with breakfast costs more than the price in the table above, booking the table separately is cheaper.
Is the breakfast the same for guests and non-guests?
Yes. Same room, same buffet, same service. The only difference is how you pay.
Can I book breakfast at the hotel where I am staying?
You can, but it rarely pays off: if your rate already includes breakfast, you would be paying twice. It makes sense when you stay at one hotel and want breakfast at another.
How much does it cost?
Between 15 and 38 euros per person, depending on the hotel. The table above has the figure for each one.
What if I want to stay at one of these hotels?
You book the room directly with the hotel or wherever you usually book. Morning Club does not sell accommodation, only breakfast.
