Hotel breakfast index 2026: what it costs in Portugal

What a hotel breakfast costs in Portugal: the median, the cheapest and the most expensive, by destination and by star rating, from partner hotels' real prices.

How much does a hotel breakfast cost in Portugal? This index answers with the real prices of Morning Club's 50 partner hotels, all 4 and 5-star, across 7 destinations in the country. The national median is 25 euros per adult: half of the hotels charge that or less, the other half that or more. The cheapest costs 15 euros and the most expensive 45 euros.

Prices are as of 3 November 2026. They come from Morning Club's database every time the site is updated, so this page always shows the prices in force, and no figure on it was typed by hand.

What is measured, and how

Portugal, destination by destination

Porto & Gaia18€15€25€45

Cascais & Estoril4€28€35€35
North Coast1€30€30€30
Centro1€30€30€30
Portugal50€15€25€45

The Lisbon row includes the hotels in Cascais and Estoril; the Portugal row counts each hotel once.

Among destinations with at least 3 hotels, the lowest median is in Madeira, at 23 euros, and the highest in Cascais and Estoril, at 35 euros. Destinations with fewer hotels appear in the table but stay out of this comparison: with so few prices, the median says little about the destination.

Each hotel's price, with its hours and its rules for children, is on each destination's page: Porto & Gaia, Lisbon, Cascais & Estoril, Algarve, Madeira and North Coast.

4-star and 5-star

CategoryHotelsCheapestMedianMost expensive
4-star13€15€20€35
5-star37€19€30€45

At the 37 5-star hotels, the median is 30 euros; at the 13 4-star hotels, it is 20 euros. Within each category, the price also varies with the room, the view and the format, buffet or à la carte: the cheapest and most expensive columns show how far each one goes.

What comes with breakfast

The index compares prices, and what the hotels describe on the table is similar. Almost all mention pastries, fruit, coffee and fresh juices, and eggs; most add breads, yoghurts, cheeses and cured meats, and many have eggs cooked to order or show cooking. The most common format is the buffet; some hotels serve à la carte. Most list vegetarian and gluten-free options, and it is worth writing any allergy in the note to the hotel when you book.

What each hotel serves, item by item, is on its page. For what to expect at a 5-star, read what a 5-star hotel breakfast includes.

Children

Each hotel sets its own ages. Up to the first, children eat free; up to the second, they pay half; above that, they pay as adults. At the hotels in this index that welcome children, the free-of-charge limit ranges from 2 to 6 years, depending on the hotel, and the half-price limit from 10 to 16 years.

That is why the index compares only the adult price. When you book, you enter the ages and the final price appears before you pay; each hotel's rule is on its page.

What about brunch?

Brunch is not part of the index: it is another meal, with another price. There are 2 brunches on sale in Lisbon and in Central Portugal, from 30 to 35 euros per person. When a hotel sells brunch, it appears on the hotel's page, next to breakfast.
